Workplace giving is one of the easiest ways to contribute to Housing Works. This program allows employees to support Housing Works directly through payroll deduction. Employees pledge a specific, self-determined amount that is deducted each pay period and sent to Housing Works on a regular basis. All donations through the workplace giving program are tax-deductible. Please contact your Human Resources Department to find out if your company participates in employee-designated giving.

Combined Federal Campaign

Employees of the federal government can direct donations to Housing Works through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).Our CFC code is 42132.

United Way

If you participate in a United Way campaign that allows donor designations, you may be able to select Housing Works, Inc. as the beneficiary of your payroll deduction. Please contact the United Way campaign coordinator at your company to see if you can write in Housing Works, Inc. as the beneficiary of your gift(s).

Gifts of stocks and bonds can be one of the most advantageous ways of giving. When you contribute appreciated securities to Housing Works, you can:

• Bypass capital gains taxes (especially valuable for stock you have held more than a year),

• Claim the full value of the gift as a charitable deduction,

• Make a larger gift than if you first sold the securities and then donated the net proceeds, and

• Support the vital, comprehensive services we provide homeless and formerly homeless New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS.

The value of your gift is calculated by using an average of the high and low prices of the security on the date that it enters our account. This information is included in our acknowledgement letter, which can be used as proof of your donation for tax purposes.
