Caroline's Wedding is the last story in Danticat's 1995 collection Krik? Krak! The story centers on the lives of two Haitian-American sisters, Grace and Caroline Azile, and their mother, who is struggling with losing her home and ties to Haiti as well as her husband and the girls' father. Set in New York in the nineties, the film introduces the reader to many aspects of Haitian culture and beliefs as well a family's joys and pain while adjusting to life in the United States.
