World AIDS Day 2022: Thursday, December 1st
Every year since 1988 the world has come together on December 1st to raise awareness about the AIDS epidemic and serves as a day of remembrance to those who have lost their lives to AIDS.
We have not yet ended HIV/AIDS because we have not ended homelessness, a crisis rooted in structural racism and political disregard for people who are Black, Latinx and poor. This year, we bring back a Housing Works tradition of the Reading of the Names of those we have lost to AIDS. Volunteers will read from a list of names for 4 hours at the AIDS Memorial Park. There will also be an opportunity to memorialize your own loved ones in an interactive art exhibit at the park.
Thursday, December 1, 2022
Press Conference: 1PM
Reading of the Names/ Interactive Art Exhibit: 2PM-6PM
AIDS Memorial Park (76 Greenwich Ave, Manhattan)
